Aeros

Prohibited Sponsorship
It is when you cannot have a specific sponsor under the umbrella of contracts, rules, laws, etc.

The reason for it is that it may promote something that can kill you. Like smoking, cigarrettes have been banned from advertising in magazines, publications, etc.

Coke is the new sponsor for the Toyota Center, and since the Aeros are one of their tenants, they abide by their own sponsors and their landlord's. If Pepsi wants to sponsor the Aeros, then that may happen, but they will probably be kicked out of the Toyota Center since its their competitor.

Oops, I went on the field trip.
Yesterday, my class went on a field trip to Job Shadow with the well known Houston Aeros. The first thing we did was meet in the conference room and got the opportunity to talk to the man in charge of game operations. He started out down below, just like anywhere you go. He worked as a mascot escort, mascot, director of game operation's assitant, and now is up here! Because the Houston Aeros are a small organization, most of the production is in house. Tickets are printed from the office, calls are made in house. Posters, graphics, logos, pictures, web publishing, all one man- Jason. Video edits, recordings, ideas come from Gabe.

Then we divided into two group to help out with mailing out letters for the boy scouts and join the hanger. The hanger is small and contains not a lot of merchandise because they are not a paying tenant. The Toyota Center is giving then this incentive to stay by giving them this exrta room, and availabilty to show passers that they are located in this building. I learned that management is very strict since it runs on contract. They aren't allowed to roam around the mall to hand out fliers. This limitation is difficut for their market to people on lunch breaks or to tourists who have never seen hockey or seek interest in goiung to a game.

What was emphasized was this in house organization. They work on interns, volunteers, charity since they are small. What is nice about it is that you get to work in so many positions that when you move to a bigger company with a bigger budget alongside, you do not go overboard. It is similar to a how you were raised, and how you act. Well you are used to this smaller company, tht you have the limits mentallly roaming, so that when you make your move to the Texans or Rockets office, it allows you to be more productive with your bigger budget.

Game Time! the game was fun, they only showed ads when their was a timeout or break in the game. The 360 LED Space can be bought out for three minutes like Direct Energy did. This is expensive for them, but it is worth it since all you see is green around, everywhere you look. So in the minds, they have that bit of memory about the direct energy ad!

One thing I noticed were the cowbells. They do not sell them anywhere. People made them at home or whatever. This shows passion for the Aeros. This is a good thing since the more passionate, the more loyal. The more loyal, the more attendance. The more attendance, the more money! Or the louder, the more motivation. The more motivation, the more wins. The more wins, the better reputation. The better reputation, the more expensive the ad times are. The more expensive the ad times are, the more money.
End Results: MORE MONEY!

Rock On Project!

What did you learn? How did you apply the marketing mix? Who was your target market and how did you choose to position yourself in the market? How did you combine the 7-key functions of marketing in your project?

From this rock on project, I learned the behind the scenes of a band. I thought that the music was the most important part of a band but three times as is important is the planning the tour, and researching everything you need to know to make the best of intentions and decisions. Our target market was towards rock music lovers who were devoted, the classic rock era. We were formed in the late 80's and are touring in the new millenium, yes we really rock that much! My position in this project was geared towards making the pricing, venues, etc. meet the public's eye. Trent was more of the artistic, editing photos guy! This projects showed how the seven key functions in simple tasks that many other bands proceed. Financing was not really a big thing since our tickets and merchandise are just pay and go, not pay as you go. The marketing mix was incorporated in everything else, pricing had to match our consumer's budget and hold their value to our name. T-shirts had to be simple, but hold meaning. Our name symbolizes the golden age of rock, our awards, our induction into the hall of fame, our platinum record. Our cities are big opportunity cities, big opportunities for us to make some money, that is. We chose a variety of venues with large and small seatings to have this diverse audience. Bigger groups give us more pump, reaction, and motivation. But we might lose our voice easily so we need to calm a bit with smaller groups.

To satisfy D-Shawn's concerns: CODY IS THE IDEA GUY!

Here's a lesson about commas that will stick to your brain!

Woman without her man is nothing.

Add two commas...

Woman, without her, man is nothing.

Rock On

We have been working on this project called "Rock On" in my Sports and Entertainment Marketing. The band name was fun to make, the biography was more of a drag. I basically cheated my way through it since we have no accomplishments, no awards, or anything so I read other band biography and got ideas. But of course I didn't sit there and copy and paste stuff in five minutes. It took me a good hour to read and change the dates, year, album name, awards, and recognition. I enjoy this project because it is truly a learning experience.

Our band name is Lethal in German and Impact in English. We were hoping our bilingual band targets not only the english speakers, but also german.

Don't Give Up

Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up♥

Class Activities

One activity I thought was raw was this Rock, Paper, Scissors. I didn't enjoy it as the focus group with Coke, Pepsi, and the Walgreens brand. The Rock, Paper, Scissors thing was too random, our results and others were way different. With the otyher, Coke was chosen as the best tasting, but with this one it didn't narrow much down.

I liked the Product/Service Management the best. I liked finding the numbers without a plan, then doing it again with more information about it. We knew more of the area to find it and it really showed how planning is so important. It makes it easier to find.

Ike's Strengths

I didn't have power for about 9 hours. The streets are filled with debris, everyone's fence fell, tree limbs fell on top of houses, and even some houses collapsing. The first morning I drove around, I saw Donut World open, but they had a really long line. The gas station on Bingle was open, but the minimum wait was two hours and the lines got longer. Everyone was living in the heat, and some still are. That's just the scene after Ike.

The one thing that bothered me was deaths. They blamed the man that fell from trimming his trees on Hurricane Ike, but no one can really justify that. He was doing it in perfect weather and Hurricane Ike was nowhere near him, the winds of the storm didn't blow him down. People trim trees everyday. And the case about the four year old who died by carbon monoxide. It is negligence of the parents to put that generator inside the house. People lose power everyday and they use generators all the time. Ike was not the reason for it.
What Ike did cause was deaths of people who didn't evacuate. They ignored the mandatory evacuation orders and stayed and were alive until Ike had come. It was Ike that carried winds along with him that knocked down the trees. It was Ike's water that flooded the house and washed some away. The news is all crazy about Hurricane Ike, but I don't think they can label their newsline "First Death of Ike; Man Trim Trees"

[[Profile]] Gallery Walk

Some of my Classmates.

Sean is a history person who likes chicken alfredo. This shows that he's a person who pays attention to detail. He is a bad speller and depends on spell check. He also likes soccer and soccer goals.

Darian is good at working in groups. He likes to play basketball and listens to hip-hop/rap music. He is a bad speller and depends on spell check. He just writes it how it sounds like. But he types fast. Darian likes Air Force Ones. He says "Juice!" when something is stupid.

Karla likes business classes and she is in Junior Achievement. She likes to watch Smallville. She is a big reader. She's able to read 700 pages in 2 days and likes her grandma's tamales.

Christian likes all types of food, and tends to go over his notes before tests. This shows he prepares and tries to pass, and does pass.

Miguel doesn't study, and he just does what he knows. This tells me that he is honest and will not cheat.

Clarence wants and wishes to be homecoming king this year. He is in orchestra and likes to eat Mexican food.

Dwayne likes math and excels in it which says he is a functional person since he works towards a specific answer.

Willie listens to country music which is rare since everyone else's blog claims they like everything else but country music.

D-Shawn's strengths are that he is good at everything, and has no weaknesses. Man he is cocky!

The Animal doesn't study too much since he works, because when he works and goes home, he prefers to sleep. This shows that he is busy and does put effort in school.

Raul does his work. And likes Smallville.

Alvin likes math, and his strengths are helping others find a solution.

Stephanie is a History person and usually goes over the review or chapter the test is on.

Isamar likes Mexican food.

Billboard

It was fun doing this project because I felt as if I was really a part of a corporation tryng to promote a product. Using the 4 P's are not difficult since you can twist tham, alter them to fit your needs. The last thing to do is to see if it would work. And I learned that if things are kept simple, they better the appeal is to the customer. A simple society calls for a simple ad. I am not saying that Americans are brainless because voting requires a lot of deciding, but if things are too much, no one would read it. Plus, driving requires a lot of attention and they need a quick note of signs, they are not going to stop the car to read the whole sign. Pictures are friends!

Darian is a great partner! He deserves this kind of recognition!

WAHOO'S

WAHOO'S!

Wahoo's market is successful because they follw the marketing mix in which are Price, Product, Promotion, and Place. They basically give out what the customer's needs are. Prices are increasing for oil, commodity, housing. They use that information to keep prices affordable so that people can feel comfortable eating out. Their product include a variety of foods to keep the interest on the menu. From Brazilian and Mexican to Hawaiian. They also promote events and businesses to add to their customer diversity. The rock climbers and surfers to the snowboarders. The 3 brothers have placed their locations to support these sports and events. Their website is an example of promotion, they sell, update their news, and provide upcoming events.

Me

My name is Thien-Song! If I were to choose a color, a car, and a destination that would help describe my characteristics then...I would choose a green bus headed to Colorado since I am odd, cool, and like to see new things!
I am a senior at Spring Woods High School. I was born and raised in Houston or "H-Town" as some people refer to it as. I like to spend my time at Bally's. I do not work out too much since I just run for about ten minutes and go to the next machine. I like going to the movies and cheating them; usually paying for one and end up watching two while carrying chips and water from home.
I want to become a pharmacist and plan on going to school in Houston. I am not organized in any way and tend to lose things often. My one goal this year is to not pay for a replacement of a book since i "lost" it.

New Blogger

It was not the first time for me to join a blog. I have made accounts with many other blogs, but this was my first experience for school purposes. At first, I had entered my e-mail address which I suppose they can fill up my inbox with lousy updates and subscriptions of other bloggers. Then, I had to make a password and get denied because it was too short, or, too weak. I used my name for the blog title because I could not think of anything else. My caption was fairly easy it was "gravenet" and the computer thought they could trick me by twisting the letters. Making a blog is really easy since it is just fill in the blanks and when you do it wrong, they'll tell you. It's not that hard, or fun.
